Senior Day

When: The second Wendnesday of every month. Times will vary but specific details can be found on the senior day page: www.blindnesssupport.com/seniorday.html

a bingo card with red circular bingo markers around itSenior Day is a support group that was created to empower seniors ages 55+ that are blind or Visually Impaired to get out in their communities. Our objective is for individuals to network with others, socialize and be more confident in new environments.

In April, seniors will be meeting here at BSS and taking a couple hours to socialize and play bingo in the company of others who are Blind or visually Impaired.



Accessibility to the Arts

When: Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 5:00PM- 7:00PM,

Please join our collaborative team in unveiling a tactile mural created by RAM's (Riverside Art Museum's) Creative Horizons Program.
RAM's Creative Horizon Program harnesses the power of arts as a catalyst for behavioral change in it to work with justice-involved youth. Specifically, the program brings a group of justice-involved youth together to learn our fundamentals and them collaboratively sign and paint a large scale mural. There will be refreshments and music.



La Red Social Para Latinos (Spanish Peer Support)

Adjustment to Blindness Peer Support Group for Spanish Speaking Blind Patrons
When: The second Friday of every month from 10:00AM- 12:00PM

We have an Adjustment to Blindness Peer Support Group where you can come and discuss the issues you face as a person with a visual impairment. We have resources and tips to improve your independence. We have various topics and meet every second Friday of the month. This group is for people who speak Spanish.



Wellness Support Group

When: When: The second Friday of every month from 1:00PM- 3:00PM

Our Health & Wellness group is designed to help the blind and visually impaired pursue a safe, healthy, and active lifestyle. Topics vary monthly and generally center around diet and exercise this event is held on the second Friday of the month.

Peer Support

When: The third Friday of every month from 10:00AM- 12:00PM

We have a Peer Support group where individuals that are blind are visually impaired can interact with others. We have various topics and activities. We meet every third Friday of the month.

Peer Support on April 19th is called, “Meet the Candidate”. We will have 3 candidates running for ward council from various areas in the City of Riverside. If you are a Riverside resident, traveler or shopper and would like to join us, RSVP with Maria at our front desk!

Apple Devices Club

When: The third Friday of every month from 1:00- 3:00PM

A black apple logo on a white backgroundWe discuss topics related to Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad Devices and Apps followed by open discussion. It is free to our Blind patrons and do not forget to bring your iPad, iPod, or your iPhone. If you do not have an Apple Device, but would like to Join us and learn, you are welcome to come! We meet the third Friday of every month.

This month, we will be discussing applications that can be utilized when traveling. Navigation, point of interest identification and other apps will be discussed. After that we will have open discussion.



Braille Club

The BSS Braille Club When: The last Friday of every month from 10:00AM- 12:00PM

Join us and have fun reading Braille material in uncontracted and contracted formats. Come and be a part of this club to maintain and increase the fluency of your Braille reading skills. We meet the last Friday of every month with various topics. RSVP today!
